C&CBI: A Distinctive Approach to Biblical Training
With so many options available for pursuing formal Bible training, what makes C&CBI so unique? With so many choices among traditional ministry training institutions and online seminaries, how do you discern which one will adequately train you to think biblically, lead confidently, contend earnestly for the faith, and equip you to minister in your local church?
We are local church centered.
We believe that the Bible clearly sets forth a ministry model centered upon strong local churches. We see that local churches themselves were responsible for the training of “faithful men” and “saints” for the ministry (II Tim. 2:2; Eph. 4:12), not generic, inter-denominational, parachurch organizations.

At C&CBI, we not only affirm this central conviction, we practice it by implementing our training directly into our local church context. The local church is our classroom.
We are interested in solid Bible content.
We hold a high view of Scripture. Thus, we are firmly committed to expository preaching (verse-by-verse exegesis), holding the Scripture as our sole authoritative guide for all of life (II Pet. 1:3), and contending for It’s innerrancy and It’s necessity for structuring a correct worldview. We believe that the Bible is the only reliable source proven to give guidance and discernment for every issue of life. We are not only interested in academic discipline–we insist on practical application.
Our faculty are faithful, tested servants of God.
The Apostle Paul admonished Timothy to continue in the doctrine he had learned because he knew his teachers personally and their testimony. (II Tim. 3:14) At C&CBI, our professors are those who have a consistent testimony and character of faithfulness, tested by winds of adversity. Their faithfulness to God’s service remains their preeminent credential.

In addition, you may be confident that each class you take, the instructor holds appropriate academic credentials to certify his ability and expertise on the subject matter.
We are conservative in our theology.
We still believe the Bible is inspired verbally and completely by God in both the Old and New Testaments. We still affirm the biblical understanding of the Trinity. We hold a high view of the holiness of God, and our ministry philosophy reflects it.

At C&CBI, we resist the fad-driven, gimmicky trends of the modern evangelical church. We refuse to surrender even one inch of doctrinal high ground to liberals by endlessly dialoguing and compromising. We stand resolutely on the historic tenets of biblical orthodoxy. We still stand opposed to worldliness and detest the modern church’s tendency to fall all over themselves in their race to be “relevant.”
We are distinct in our choices of lifestyle.
We believe that the Word of God sets forth principles which we are expected to apply to everyday, practical life issues and scenarios. For example, we believe that a fruitful Christian should not use tobacco, alcohol, or employ coarse language. We believe that a conscientious Christian should not indiscriminately watch television, rent or purchase ungodly movies, go to movie theaters,  listen to music which blasphemes God or promotes anti-biblical values. Because we believe that God has redeemed us en toto, our bodies also belong to Him and we should not mar or deface them with tattoos and piercings in an attempt to appear like the world. This is just a brief summary of some ways we apply biblical principles to the area of godly living.

Each student is encouraged to implement what principles he or she learns directly from Scripture and to form strong convictions on these points. After all, what difference can we make in this world, unless we first begin by being different from this world?
